SeaLog

Introduction

SeaLog gets it's location data from a NMEA 0183 stream that is coming from a hardware COM port. The typical setup uses a USB GPS unit plugged into the laptop, but users have reported success with NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 cables, and by connecting directly to the ship GPS feed (assuming it's NMEA 0183). The following are a list of GPS units known to work.

  • GlobalSat BU-353-N: this is the updated version of the BU-353-S4. Do not get the version that ends in "W11" as this unit does not send NMEA 0183.
